Hi, my name is Mai. I was born in Copenhagen, Denmark to Danish parents. I’ve moved from Denmark, Amsterdam, California, London, back to California and then Denmark. I graduated high school in Denmark and now I live here. I went to four different high schools. So, I actually did five years of high school. I had really huge issues with moving around, because when we moved from Amsterdam to California I didn’t speak any English. I developed social anxiety. I got some help with it and now I’m getting better. Because of it I got terrified of change. Change is exciting to me whereas it used to be really scary.
I’ve seen the world from a lot of different angles at a young age. I’ve taken away an awareness I don’t think I would’ve had if I had just grown up in Denmark; a tiny little country in Europe. People are different and everyone has their own reason for thinking the way they do. Everyone’s opinion is valid regardless of what it is.
Amy Kohler: “Try to keep your mind open to possibilities and your mouth closed on matters you don’t know about. Limit your always and your nevers.” I’m very open to being wrong and I think if more people do that it would make people more productive. Limiting your always and your nevers is very important.
