Task: Experiment with what it takes to create, edit and produce a podcast

Barista talk is a show created by two baristas to talk about coffee culture, get an inside peek behind the coffee counter and share comical customer stories. How do you make a proper cup of coffee? What do consumers not know about their drink? How is coffee different across the U.S.?

CONCLUSION: this podcast spurs on coffee cravings

I enjoy interviewing people and hearing about their experiences with coffee. Coffee culture expands beyond our interactions inside a coffee shop to include those who grow, roast and transport the beans. I will continue exploring these conversations to help consumers understand what they are buying when they go into a coffee shop.

29 Stories in 29 Days

TASK: CAPTURE 29 STORIES IN 29 DAYS

I took on this passion project amid college classes, work and living with 60 people. I was inspired by Humans of New York to interview strangers around Eugene, Oregon. I stretched myself to strike up conversations with complete strangers.

CONCLUSION: PEOPLE WANT TO BE KNOWN

Asking questions for 15 minutes and taking a stranger’s photograph was easier and more enjoyable than I imagined. People are open to sharing their stories, because they want to be heard and understood. A spark grew inside me to hear more stories and search out the good in everyone I met.

Creating the story for this brand was inspiring. Creativity grows well when it happens naturally. To quote Albert Einstein, "Creativity is intelligence having fun."

Dollar Shave Club

This wasn’t used by the Dollar Shave Club and is my spin off their brand.

This wasn’t used by the Dollar Shave Club and is my spin off their brand.

Experiment: match an existing brand's voice and format an email campaign

Dollar Shave Club is known for its honest approach to shaving. Real men use their razors. As a personal experiment, I bought my own. Could men's razors be just as good for women? No pink. All blades. It was bar none the best razor this girl has tried. I converted.

Conclusion: men's razors are better

Ad copy for Dollar Shave Club is plain, simple fun. Taking all of my inner puns and giving them a punch line. A sleek, masculine razor. What could be better? Nothing. You're right.

Project management

Task: design a new logo and a label

Exhale Bakery and Vintage & Cream are home grown bakeries located in Oregon. Exhale Bakery needed a new, clean and fresh logo to display their baked goods. Vintage & Cream produced a decadent caramel sauce and requested an elegant label to match.

conclusion: project management is worth the time

Writing copy and collaborating with designers and the business owners was energizing. The process from creation to final printed materials was, dare I say, easy and enjoyable.
